Jakande Hosts Historic Simultaneous Stakeholders' Budget Meeting Across Wards

In a groundbreaking move for local governance, Hon. Seyi Jakande, the Executive Chairman of the Òdì-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, on Monday, Nov 17, held the 2026 Stakeholders' budget meeting concurrently across all nine wards in the community. This unprecedented initiative aimed to engage a broader spectrum of community voices and ensure substantial participation in the budgetary process.

The year 2026 budget is themed the "Budget of Sustainability," reflecting an ambitious vision focused on long-term progress and development for the area.

During his addresses at each ward, Chairman Jakande outlined key achievements in his first 100 days in office that align with his HEWA Agenda. His accomplishments include advancements in education, healthcare improvements, sports development, empowerment programs, environmental sustainability efforts, infrastructure upgrades, and bolstered security measures among others. "It is essential to actively listen to our residents and understand their needs," Jakande stated. "Holding the Stakeholders' Meeting simultaneously allows us to reach out directly to the people, ensuring that their voices are not only heard but integrated into our planning process."

Chairman Jakande emphasized that the initiatives implemented so far are merely the beginning of what the community can expect in the coming years. His vision for continuous growth and development includes expanding programs that directly benefit the community while fostering an environment of sustainability.

Community members from various wards expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with the Chairman and share their thoughts on the budget priorities. The inclusive format received positive feedback, with many stating that it made the proceedings more accessible and transparent.

The chairman promised to ensure that all the requests from residents at the meeting reflect in the year 2026 Budget.

The simultaneous Stakeholders' budget meeting, which has never been recorded in the history of budget stakeholders meeting across the country at the third tier of government, marked a significant milestone in local governance, paving the way for future participatory initiatives.

Residents left the meetings with renewed hope for a sustainable and prosperous future under the "Budget of Sustainability."
